Your experiences have helped to shape who you are. The story we tell ourselves about our experiences shapes who we become. Old Stories become self-limiting beliefs. New Stories offer hope and direction.
Change presupposes awareness – Dr Alan Godwin
I know your time is valuable and I wrote this working guide to help you to learn more about yourself and ways in which to harness your unique experiences to support future goals and satisfaction. I’ll show you step by step how to reshape your Story of You to better serve your aspirations.
- First I’m going to go through some background info to set the scene.
- Then we are going to debunk your tainted story.
- Next we will look at the perfect formula for stories.
- Finally, let’s rewrite your story.
Having a clear sense of who you are and what you are about helps navigate the path ahead more confidently. There have been milestones and trials, but the narrative you form around those facts is an important piece of the puzzle for sustained satisfaction and contentment. Stories evolve and change as representations of our inner growth and wisdom. Taking time to update your Story of You is about recognising learning from lessons of the past, and integrating this into a vision for the future.
In this workbook, you can:
- Start to recognise inner voices which are echoes of the past.
- Identify self limiting beliefs that you want to change to be more content.
- Uncover personal values that you can rely on to help guide future decisions and goals.
- Explore the value of past challenges and obstacles in your life.
- Write your future story for lasting contentment and satisfaction.
- Learn about some of the extension resources available.
A well-lived life demands incrementally of us. We need to be adaptive, coherent, energised, and stable. This collection of characteristics tends to look like cooperation and balance within – an integration of parts which then positively impacts our sense of identity and self-worth.
When fully “integrated” your well-being is more like a fruit salad than a smoothy: there is a clear synergy between your various “parts” (eg, personality, experiences, skills, and attributes) as the outcome, and the overall feeling is one of harmony – like a choir where individual voices are not lost when they join together to create the melody.
This workbook is one more step towards integration.
